2. What "kind" of a Presbyterian Church is "First Presbyterian?
First Presbyterian is a church of the Presbyterian Church (USA). We are the largest Presbyterian denomination in North America.
3. What kinds of worship services are held at First Presbyterian?
We have two styles of worship. Our 11:00 AM service follows a traditional order of worship which includes hymns, responsive readings, Scripture readings, prayers, sharing of joys and concerns, and a sermon. We sing hymns from the Presbyterian Hymnal, which includes traditional , modern, and international music.
Our 9:00 AM service called "The Gathering" follows a contemporary style which includes praise music, a and a band which consists of drums, guitars, keyboards, etc. The service also includes Scripture readings and a message. Songs include both popular Christian music and congregational favorites.
On the first Sunday of each month we celebrate the Sacrament of Communion at both services. All baptized persons who trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are invited to participate in Communion, regardless of church membership or background.
