WORSHIP

Worship is central to all that we do at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Charles. We celebrate One Lord, One Faith One Baptism.  Each service has a sermon based on the Bible, but aimed at today’s challenges and needs.

At 10:30 A.M., a blended worship service is celebrated in the sanctuary. First Presbyterian Church has a beautiful sanctuary, with stained glass windows and a magnificent organ. A chancel choir leads the singing, which ranges from beloved and well known classic hymns to newer contemporary hymns. Chris Miller is Chancel Choir director. The choir practices most Thursday nights at 7:00 P.M., and welcomes new members. The music team includes guitars, drum and a keyboard that add to the music and praise-filled singing.

We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Baptisms are held during worship services as well.  The Youth of the church help prepare and lead at least two services each year, including preaching the sermon.

We also offer worship services for special days in the Christian year, with a Service of Lessons and Carols for Advent, a Candlelight Communion Service on Christmas Eve, a service on Ash Wednesday, special worship on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, and two services on Easter Sunday.

Beginning Wednesday, February 12, 2014, there will be a monthly Prayer and Healing Service held in the Sanctuary.  It will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month to coincide with our regularly scheduled “Family Night Supper.”  This way, after that special time of sharing of prayer concerns, we can then continue to celebrate our oneness in Christ by sharing in a fellowship meal.
